Case Study: Reality Capture for IWK and QEII Hospital Projects
SDMM recently completed two projects – IWK Children’s Hospital and QEII Halifax Infirmary – where we captured above-ceiling building systems and mechanical room details to inform mechanical upgrade design alternatives.
Our field teams worked hard planning and executing laser scanning surveys of complex environments under very challenging conditions while respecting CSA Infection Control protocols and best practices.
The field-collected data was carefully processed and converted to 3D model geometry representing existing conditions and integrated with our clients’ design workflows. Our reality data was also shared in a cloud-based viewer, allowing all stakeholders to visually review and inspect in-situ building systems at any time.
